Do you fit children as well as adults?
Yes — both and with the same care. We hold children's and adults' sizes across the brands we stock and where a size or shape isn't in the room we'll try to order it in. LeMieux is currently available in children's sizes only.
Do you charge for hat or boot fitting?
Fittings are complimentary and your measurements stay on file for future purchases. A £30 fitting fee applies if you'd like your size information to purchase elsewhere — it covers the fitter's time and expertise.
Can I just walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome on Fridays from 9.30am to 3pm only. Outside those hours please book an appointment using the form on our website — or contact us via WhatsApp or email — and a trained fitter will be waiting for you. Appointments are relaxed, children are welcome and there's no obligation to try anything on or to buy.
Are your fitters trained?
Yes — every fitting is carried out by a trained fitter, for hats, tall boots and Race Safe body protectors.
Do you deliver?
Yes. Made-to-measure and special orders can be delivered and where it's easier for you we can bring them to your yard and check the fit in person.
What is the safest helmet?
The million dollar question and honestly it's complicated. We only hold brands that meet current standards and how well a hat fits is a big part of how it works for you. Come in and we'll talk you through the options openly — a higher price doesn't automatically mean a safer hat.
What is your returns policy?
Most of what we sell is safety equipment — hats, body protectors and boots. Once an item has been fitted and sold it can't be resold as new, so we can't take it back if you simply change your mind. Made-to-measure and bespoke orders are non-refundable. None of this affects your statutory rights: if an item later proves faulty, bring it back and we'll put it right.
Can I see the horses?
Forest Oaks is a private working yard, home to resident and visiting riders and private clients. Visitors to The Riding Room get lovely views over the facilities, but we don't offer stable tours or visits to individual horses.
How long does a fitting appointment take?
Allow up to an hour. A proper fitting means measuring, trying a few options and checking the fit before you decide — for hats, tall boots and Race Safe body protectors alike. Children's fittings are often quicker, but there's no need to rush.
Do you repair and adjust hats and boots?
Yes — liners, harnesses and fit adjustments on hats and zips, elastics, stretching and repairs on boots. If something isn't right after you've been riding in it, bring it back to us.
How long does a made-to-measure order take?
It depends on the brand and the specification. We'll give you a realistic timescale before you commit and keep you posted.
Am I better off buying online?
You don't need to choose: we price match any authorised online retailer. More service, not a higher price — with the fitting, the aftercare and someone to come back to included.
